Happy Father’s Day!

“The finest inheritance you can give to a child is to allow it to make its own way, completely on it’s own feet. ” ~ Isadora Duncan

He carries you so you get a great view.
He naps with you because he was up during the night with you.
He teaches you to swim.
He lets you know you are loved.
He reads to you. over and over and over again.
He is excited that the Easter Bunny came.
He teaches you how to fish and do outdoorsy things.
He’s proud of every little accomplishment.
He takes awkward pictures of you and posts them to Facebook.
He sings karaoke and makes you giggle.
He climbs to great heights just to show you he can do it.
He knows that dads come in the form of friends, too. (Nanook is Kate’s MOD, My Other Dad)
He shares his love of the outdoors with you.
He pushes your limits at Tuckerman’s.
He knows how to laugh with you.
He passes on his gorgeous green eyes to his child.
He wears a toga and parties with you.
He can be quite silly.
He knows it takes a village to raise (and celebrate) a child. Happy 21st Birthday to you, Kate!
He enjoys a good pig pile after a chilly Polar Plunge.
He takes you sailing on a glorious day.
He dresses up and celebrates a new year with you.
He takes you on fun vacations.
Most of all, he loves the women in his life more than anything, and looking at our smiles you can see we adore him, too.

“Womens childhood relationships with their fathers are important to them all their lives. Regardless of age or status, women who seem clearest about their goals and most satisfied with their lives and personal and family relationships usually remember that their fathers enjoyed them and were actively interested in their development.”

~ Stella Chess

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I still can’t get the hang of WordPress, but I’m trying. I haven’t been posting any recipes lately, but I’ve sure been busy, and busy cooking, too. However, since today is Valentine’s Day I thought I’d post a pic of my love and I sailing. We did a one week live aboard course with Colgate Offshore Sailing School this winter. This pic was snapped while we were cruising off of Captiva Island (I am the skipper!) on the Leopard 4600, the Escape Too.

Say hello to two (plus 2 friends) new US Sailing certified bareboat cruisers! Thank you, Offshore. We loved every minute.

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends.

Make sure you tell your friends and family you love them. Better yet, do what we did in Kindergarten today – give them a genuine compliment. A compliment is: TRUE, SPECIFIC, and POSITIVE.

See? Everything you need to know you DO learn in Kindergarten.
